Baby Great Tits

The other day, after work, I was padding around out in the garden with my wife when she noticed another bird had crashed into one of our windows. This time it was dead straight off, and the bugs were already having a go at it. It was a baby great tit. Such a shame for this little bird to have had such a short life.

In better news, however, there are two very healthy, very noisy, and indeed, very insistent baby great tits enjoying the patience of their parent outside in the tree.

For the first time today, I saw one of them hop up onto the peanut feeder and have a go at getting some food of its own. However, as soon as its parent reappeared it was all too happy to let them do the work.

Still getting attention from its parents

Comments:
aww poor bird.

Dad said there was an injured magpie in our driveway. There is currently a huge magpie explosion seemingly everwhere in Northern Ireland. There must be at least 50 nesting in the trees around our house.

I didn't see the injured bird, but dad said he gave it some chicken, but it didn't seem to have the energy to eat it. He said he thought it was just waiting to die.

Such a shame for animals to suffer. They don't have the national health service or government benefits or anything which is why I think they often deserve more attention than people.

Yeah we've got loads of magpies, they come and steal my dog's biscuits and she barks at them. I think the pigeon that was nesting in our tree has flown off now.

Great pictures.
